How to Calculate Your Safe Periods to Avoid Getting Pregnant.
Getting to know a woman's safe period starts with accurately knowing your menstrual cycle. Menstruation cycles can be as short as 21days to as long as 35days. The most common menstruation cycle among women is 28days.To count the menstruation cycle days its starts with the first day a woman experiences her period for example her first period is on date 4th and then her next period is on the 31st.
Count
the number of days including the first date she experienced her period to the
next date she experiences the next period, for our case example the date will
include the date 4th up to date 31st, and when you count the total days will be
28day which forms her menstruation cycle period.
The next important point to know when you
want to determine safe days to have sex and not get pregnant is knowing a
woman's ovulation date. Normally ovulation occurs in the middle date of a
menstruation cycle period. From our example above illustration we found out
that her menstruation cycle is 28days, divide 28days by half to get 14 days.
This means on date 14th forms a woman’s ovulation date which is her peak fertile date. Ovulation normally lasts between 12 hours to 24hrs thereafter if the egg doesn't get fertilized it will disintegrate and move to the uterus and later pass out of the body.
The final important point to know in
determining the safe period to have sex and not get pregnant is how long does
the sperm last in a woman's body. Sperms can last between 3 to 5 days in a
woman's body after which sperms become non-viable or die therefore no fertilization
can take place.
Another important point I need to raise is
that a woman cannot get pregnant during her periods this is because the ovum
will have been disintegrated/dissolved and also the thickening walls of the
uterus in preparation for implantation after fertilization will be broken or
disintegrated during her menses.
Having all that information at hand now, a woman is now able to calculate her safe days to have sex and not get pregnant. From the first day of a woman's menses up to 5 days before her ovulation period, a woman is in her safe period and can have sex without getting pregnant.
Why do I say up to 5 days before her
menses? The reason is as you can recall sperms can stay in a woman's body for
up to 5 days meaning if a woman has sex 5,4,3,2,1,0 days before her ovulation,
the sperms will stay viable and when ovulation takes place, sperms will be in
her body and fertilization is likely to take place and as a result, a woman
will have gotten pregnant.
Next cycle again a woman will be in her
safe period is a day after her ovulation this is because ovulation takes a maximum of 24 hours to occur and stay viable after 24 hours if the ovum will not
get fertilized, it will move to the uterus and get dissolved so engaging in sex
after 24 hours of ovulation means no ovum is available to be fertilized.
